FTC robots competing in an alliance match

FTC is a robotics competition for students in grades 6 through 12. Teams of up to 15 members design, build, and program robots using Java to compete in alliance-format matches against other teams.

About the Program

FTC is a robotics competition program designed for students in grades 6 through 12 where teams of up to 15 members design, build, and program robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams.

At FutureForward, our FTC teams use Java and the FTC SDK to write fully autonomous and driver-controlled robot programs. Students learn real software engineering practices including version control, modular design, and debugging.

Skills & Training

What You'll Learn

FTC students train across three disciplines. Choose a specialization in mechanical or programming, and every student builds communication skills.

Your Student's Path

What to Expect

From day one through graduation, here is how FutureForward turns students into professionals.

First Week

Orientation & Safety

Meet your team, tour the makerspace, complete safety training, and get introduced to the tools and equipment you will use all season.

First Month

Skill Assessment & Sub-Team Placement

Rotate through mechanical, programming, and design stations. Students explore each area and choose the sub-team that fits their interests.

First Season

Build, Compete, Grow

Design and build a competition robot from scratch. Attend qualifier events, refine your strategy, and push for state championships.

Beyond

Leadership & Legacy

Returning members take on leadership roles, mentor newer students, and help shape the team's direction. By this stage, they carry themselves like professionals.

Weekly Schedule

Practice Days & Times
